From Syria to Sweden: The story of Stateless Syrian Palestinian in search for Identity

Published on Your Middle East  and OpenDemocracy                    #WorldRefugeeDay   More than  2.8 million Syrians  have been forced to leave their country so far. The vast majority of them remaining in neighboring countries, such as Turkey (764,000), Lebanon (1,093,069) and Jordan (597,328), according to the UN Refugee Agency. They are often living in dire conditions because countries like Lebanon and Jordan are already under extreme economic and political strain. Few others went seeking refuge in Europe. However, Europe has only granted asylum to 89,000 people. Though  Europe is failing refugees from Syria  , Sweden is one of the few European countries to offer permanent residence to Syrians arriving at its borders. "à l'occasion  du 13 août, F ête  Nationale de la  Femme" Les tunisiennes ont impressionné le monde entier en se levant pour défendre leurs droits en tant que femmes et en tant qu'êtres humains. Epaules contre épaules elle se sont soulevées aux côtés des hommes afin de défendre leur nation pendant la révolution. Ceci dit, le mouvement des femmes tunisiennes remonte bien avant le 14 janvier 2011. Dès le début du 20e siècle les femmes tunisiennes ont joué un rôle déterminant dans l'obtention de l'indépendance de leur pays.  If it was just me experiencing this, I would maybe not even talk about it since I'll consider it an exception but it strangely happened with many people complaining about the same thing and you might have experienced it as well. We are 15 bloggers for CIVICUS, who have been granted full bursaries to attend the World Assembly in Canada.  Some of us had their visas either rejected once and twice or not issued on time because of long and annoying procedures. I will talk in my name and take full responsibility of my words but I will meanwhile quote from my fellow bloggers. Prabin Rokaya , a young activist from Nepal, had his visa rejected twice."
